Instructions for Using the Stepped (Tapered) Filter Basket
Coffee dose: 18–20 g (19 g or more is recommended; with less coffee, the 58 mm tamper cannot compress the puck properly)
Grind size: About 1.5 times coarser than your normal basket setting (e.g., if your grinder is set to 10 for a standard basket, you need to adjust it to 15–20 for the stepped basket)
Extraction flow rate: About 1 ml per second (excluding pre‑infusion time)
Improved extraction results: The stepped design significantly increases the puck depth and builds higher internal pressure. This allows the coffee grounds to be coarser, producing a wider particle size distribution from the grinder, which gives more complex flavour layers. At the same time, it reduces fines, cuts bitterness, and enhances sweetness.
